The Mayor of Chorley, Cllr. Alistair Morwood, has recently held an event to thank a select group of organisations that have helped him during his year in office. Friends’ Chair Steve Rhodes and fellow Committee Member Jan Sanderson attended the event to receive the certificate shown below.

The Friends’ representatives were further awarded a memento for attending the recent planting of the Mayor’s Tree in Astley Park.

The tree was planted on a site suggested by the Friends – land formerly used as an adventure playground next to the main path.

Below is the inscription on the plaque.

All of this goes back to September last year when the Mayor asked the Friends to lead a guided walk round the Park as part of his charity fund raising initiative.
